Hester and Shepard Block - 1887 109 South Palmetto Avenue. M.K. Hester and Mr. Shepard had this building constructed in 1887 after the September 1887 fire that swept through downtown Sanford. The building originally had three floors, but the top floor was condemned and removed in 1928. This block served as Sanford's first fire station from 1890 to 1974. The building also served as the City Hall, Police Station and Jail. |
